Professor Rating Overlay is an independent browser extension that shows Rate My Professors rating data on CUNY Schedule Builder pages.
What this extension does
When you visit https://sb.cunyfirst.cuny.edu/*, the extension reads instructor names displayed on the page, looks up matching school and professor records from Rate My Professors, and shows rating information inline on the schedule page.
Information this extension handles
- Instructor names visible on the Schedule Builder page
- The school name detected from the page
- Rate My Professors school and professor IDs returned by the lookup service
- Rating data returned by Rate My Professors, such as rating, difficulty, review count, tags, and profile link
- The extension's saved setting for default school name
How information is used
This information is used only to:
- Identify professors shown on the page
- Request matching school and professor rating data from Rate My Professors
- Display rating results directly in the page
- Cache lookup results locally to reduce repeat network requests
- Save the extension's school setting
Where information is stored
The extension stores cached school records, cached professor records, and extension settings in chrome.storage.local on your device.
The extension does not provide its own account system, analytics service, advertising system, or remote database.
Information shared with third parties
To fetch rating data, the extension sends lookup requests to Rate My Professors at https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/.
These requests may include:
- Professor names being looked up
- The selected or resolved school identifier
The extension does not sell user data.
The extension does not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data retention
Professor lookup results are cached locally for a limited time to reduce repeat requests.
School lookup results and extension settings may remain in local storage until they are replaced, cleared by the user, or removed when the extension is uninstalled.
Your choices
You can stop all data handling by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
You can remove locally stored extension data by clearing the extension's site data through Chrome or uninstalling the extension.
Security
The extension uses Chrome extension storage and network requests over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
